Kanye West - 808’s And Heartbreak (Album)

We don’t know how to describe Kanye West’s new music anymore: Is he a rapper? Or a rapper-turned pop-hiphop singer? Well, he seems to define his new sound as “pop art“, as he says. It’s different than most artists nowadays - which was what he was aiming for.

His use of blending futuristic and tribal-like drum beat sounds was brilliant, and as you listen to the album you would automatically could tell the theme and direction he was aiming for. He thinks music-forward, and is one of the best noted producers out there at the moment. Kanye shows more of an emotional side of him in this album (Coldest Winter = about his mom’s death last year)

West is a smart man: purposely leaking some of his songs on the internet, recieving feedback from fans, then re-working the songs, leaking them again, recieving more feedback, reworking them AGAIN, (Notice the change in “Robocop”? The instrumental sounds TOTALLY different, it has more of a violin-sound than it’s drum beats). Some of the songs were supposed to have a distortion sound to it, but I think he eventually scrapped that idea out, it sounded great though. And geez Kanye, tone down your use of Auto-Tune in your songs - it can get a little annoying at times.

I personally loved this album, it’s my favorite from him yet. Most people will love it, some will hate Kanye’s new material.

Favorable: “Welcome To Heartbreak”, “Heartless”, “Love Lockdown”, “Paranoid”, “RoboCop”, “Street Lights”, and “See You In My Nightmares”
Favorable of the favorable: “RoboCop”, “Street Lights”
