Mossip is no longer active anymore and will never be. Why? let’s see…
1. I started off the blog a year and a half ago with a totally different music taste. MOSSIP’s name came from Music + Gossip in one word. So basically half the site was mainstream/pop music and the other half was a celebrity blog. Well, this blog is totally different now and does not relate to its name anymore.
2. I needed change.
3. I was losing visitors. I got to be honest, I was losing a lot of visitors gradually and slowly. When my site was all about pop music, tons of people read my blog and now it’s slowly decreasing due to the music change. I have a totally different opinion on musical tastes now and my previous readers did not agree to this change so they stopped visiting. It was harder to gain visitors than it did to lose.
BUT - THIS IS NOT A GOODBYE!
I am starting a new era of my blog life - Vinyl & Vodka.
It is basically Mossip 2.0, it’s better than usual, with stronger content and amazing new writers. Everything is still the same there - it’s just a blog with a name that actually means something to me now.
If you have been following Mossip, thank you for doing so and I hope you continue to do so by reading my new blog:
Brooklyn’s very own Dirty Projectors debuted their very first tv performance yesterday night on David Letterman, performing “Cannibal Resource”. I was very lucky to catch them live a couple months ago and highly recommend going to their shows.
Madonna has a reason to celebrate, which is why she is releasing her greatest hits album containing 36 of her hit singles including the about-to-be-hit “Celebration”.
This video looks pretty good and the ediitng is amazing, however it looks really low budget. They could’ve added a little more something than just a black and white background to it. However the video edit of the song is so much better than the original in my opinion. Cameos in this music video include Madonna’s own daughter Lourdes and Brazilian boy toy Jesus Luz.
And wait - Madonna wants you to download the video for it for free! Head over to iTunes and grab this amazing video directed Jonas Akerlund completely free and celebrate your last days of summer!
Interesting! Never thought something like this would happen soon.
Saks.com and Marc Jacobs basically teamed up with Chairlift and provided free outfits for them to basically promote in their new little music video/advertisement “Planet Health“. I freaking love Marc Jacobs so that must’ve been cool. I’d wear every single thing in that music video!
In a way I wish the video wasn’t them standing in a spot playing music but more of them fooling around and having fun.
You may have noticed the slowdown of posts lately, but don’t worry, we have a huge surprise coming up! (we can’t say yet)
Here at Mossip you might have noticed a couple of concert reviews popping up, and interviews as well. We don’t pay our writers (I wish I could!), but instead I try to reward them with free concert tickets, press passes, and possibly even an interview with the band or artist. (depending on where you live)
I am currently looking for a few more talented writers who would like to join the Mossip team! Especially if you’re from L.A., Toronto, New York, or London! If you’re not then I’d still like for you to apply.
Just e-mail me via contactmossip@gmail.com with the subject “I’d like to be a writer!” and I will ‘interview’ you from then on.
Here is a new single from the ‘Where the Wild Things Are‘ Soundtrack, titled “All Is Love”. A light-heated piano rift is backed up by a start and stop guitar hook and some off key singing by children. The song is fun and catchy and feels like a playful jaunt through this land of imagination. All the lyrics are sung by what sounds to be kids, except for backing vocals by KarenO, From the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. Also she is accompanied by a large of amount of impressive artists with lots of talent that will spread across the entire soundtrack. Here is the list:
Brian Chase - YYY’s
Nick Zinner - YYY’s
Bradford Cox - Deerhunter and Atlas sound
Dean Fertita - Queens of the Stone Age, the Deadweather and The Raconteurs
Aaron Hemphill - Liars
Greg Kurstin - The Bird and the Bee
Jack Lawrence - The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather and the Greenhornes
Oscar Michel - Gris Gris
Imaad Wasif - New Folk Implosion and Alaska
and Also the addition of an untrained choir of children.
It’s quite the extensive list! They are all collaborating to create all the music for the soundtrack of this new whimsical film.
Download the song below and be sure to check out their Myspace for updates and more steaming material to come.
Finally, some new material from From, an indie pop sensation hailing from Beverly Hills. I’ve actually been hoping a song by them would be released soon, and here is an awesome Beastie Boys cover they did in French, titled “Fight For Your Right“.
“It’s both intimidating and fun to take on the Beastie Boys, so we made sure our version is very different from the original. It’s in French, for one. We replaced the Deep Purple-style guitar riff with a New Order sound, layered a fuzzed out synth on the 4/4 beat of an 808 kick drum, threw in samples of a Peruvian flute and a cello, and invited an all-girl choir to join in for the chorus.”
Now why did the talented songwriter/producer/singer decide to cover this Beastie Boys song? Other than it being one of the best dance songs ever, they provided their reason translated through a venn diagram chart:
Okay, so we might all agree that Calvin Harris’ latest album ‘Ready For The Weekend’ was not the best we heard of him, but that did not stop him from doing what he does best - making hot remixes.
Here we have Shakira’s “She Wolf” remixed by Calvin Harris, and he definitely knows how to throw a party on - it’s one of the best remixes of Shakira’s latest single.
DJ AM (a.k.a. Adam Goldstein) survived a horrible plane crash about a year ago, but this time he was not so lucky. DJ AM was found dead in this morning in his Manhattan apartment. While no official cause of death has been realeased, drug paraphernalia was found in his apartment. Not too much is known right now. It is horrible to see a young talent like him gone. Him and Travis Barker helped fill up my iTunes with some good songs. RIP.
Electro-hip hoppers LMFAO have released the video for “La La La” which features the girls from the Parasido Girls. I’m not really into them that much but they have a lot of catchy tunes.
